At St Mark's, the Mathematics program is based on contemporary approaches to the teaching and learning of Mathematics. To assist our students in becoming competent, confident and efficient users of number a strong focus is placed on the development of numeracy skills, knowledge and understandings.
The Mathematics curriculum covers the areas of Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, Probability and Statistics. Students are exposed to a range of teaching and learning experiences which encourage the development of the understanding of mathematical concepts through the use of concrete materials, digital technologies and pen and paper activities.
Each year students participate in the Maths Talent Quest which promotes the use of mathematical problem solving through investigations.
Maths Intervention Program
Students needing extra support in the development of sound mathematical concepts in 'Number' are eligible to receive one-on-one or small group tuition, during the early years of schooling, Foundation-Year 4, through the Maths Intervention Program.
